About

Christy Barongan completed her B.A. in Psychology and English from the University of Virginia and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Kent State University. She completed my internship at the Counseling and Psychological Services at the University of Virginia. Her areas of expertise include sexual assault, eating disorders, relationships, trauma, diversity, neurodiversity, positive psychology, mindfulness, and self-compassion. She has been a licensed clinical psychologist since 2000. She was an assistant professor in psychology at the University of Pittsbugh-Johnstown and Mary Baldwin College for 13 years. She then worked at University Counseling Services at Washington and Lee for 19 years. Currently, she has a virtual private practice in Virginia and Tennessee through Grow Therapy and and is a virtual life coach.
